Architectural Bi-fold Screening – Top Rolling Custom Designed Hardware
This apartment development is a landmark complex in Auckland, a stunning building, due to the bi-folds and sliding aluminium screens on the exterior of the building. The screens presented a unique challenge due to a number of design requirements. The screens needed to open fully but could not close beyond thirty degrees and they had to be sliding and bi-folding with specific stopping points. The architects wanted a perforated panel to create a unique looking building that would stand out from the crowd. The custom designed hardware was developed using stainless steel and Aluminium components.
Collaborated Design
We worked with multiple contractors to deliver the right product for the job, as per the specific needs of the client.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
We manufactured a small batch of components for a show room, so the client and contractors could double check a working version of the finished product, and complete a final sign off.
Safe and Sound
Designed and load tested at AES HQ for a high wind load specific requirement. We worked with Motts engineers to sign off the system and approve the screens to slide 11 stories high.
NZ Manufactured
AES manufactured all the components at AES HQ here in New Zealand. These were delivered in a specific time frame.
Prototyping
We manufactured multiple prototypes, so the customer could physically hold the components and visually accept the best option.
